Level 1: Reasoning via topic and action selection

Variables introduce determinism into the agentic workflow in three key ways:
- Persistent Dynamic Grounding: Variables persist critical data (such as retrieved troubleshooting steps or real-time user state) safely across the entire session.
- Action Inputs and Outputs: Developers can bypass LLM interpretation by explicitly mapping a variable to an action’s input or output, ensuring deterministic data flow between tools.

Level 5: Deterministic actions (Apex, APIs, and Flow)
The highest level of control shifts execution entirely away from the non-deterministic LLM and into Salesforce’s core transactional engines. When a business process demands a strict, unvarying sequence of operations without conversational intervention, developers should encapsulate the logic within Apex, APIs, or Salesforce Flows.
If a workflow involves more than three sequential steps, enforcing the sequence via natural language instructions becomes highly unreliable. By hardcoding these processes into deterministic actions, the agent’s role is narrowed to simply identifying the correct intent, gathering the required inputs, and triggering the Flow or Apex class.
