Tableau FAQ
What is Tableau Next?
Tableau Next is the current generation of Tableau built natively on the Salesforce platform, bringing analytics into the same environment as your CRM data and AI agents. It sits alongside Tableau Cloud and Tableau Server rather than replacing them outright.
What is Tableau Agent?
Tableau Agent is the AI assistant inside Tableau. It helps build calculations, prepare data and explain what a visualization is showing, in conversational form rather than through menus.
Has CRM Analytics been retired?
No. CRM Analytics, previously called Einstein Analytics and Tableau CRM, is still a supported product. Salesforce is investing in Tableau Next as the strategic direction, so new work generally starts there, but existing CRM Analytics deployments are not being switched off and do not need an emergency migration.
What is Tableau Semantics?
Tableau Semantics is the governed metrics layer. It defines what business terms mean once, so that a term like churn rate resolves to your official calculation everywhere it is used, including when an AI agent answers a question with it. That is what stops agents inventing plausible but wrong numbers.
Should our data live in Tableau or in Data 360?
Usually both, deliberately. Data 360 unifies and governs the data and resolves identity; Tableau is where people and agents ask questions of it. The decision worth taking care over is which sources genuinely need to be landed and which can stay where they are.
What outcomes should we expect?
Decisions made from one agreed set of numbers rather than several competing exports, less time spent rebuilding the same report, and metrics defined once so both people and agents use the same definition. We define those measures at the start and report against them.
