Marketing Cloud FAQ
Which Marketing Cloud edition do we need?
Salesforce now sells Marketing Cloud Growth and Marketing Cloud Advanced, both built on the core Salesforce platform rather than the older separate stack. Growth suits teams running straightforward campaigns; Advanced adds deeper personalization, more sophisticated journeys and higher volumes.
How do the newer editions differ from what we already run?
The older Marketing Cloud Engagement stack sits apart from the core platform with its own data model and tooling. Growth and Advanced are native, so they use the same data, the same flows and the same admin model as the rest of your Salesforce org. That is the difference that changes how you build and who can maintain it.
Where does Account Engagement fit?
Account Engagement is the B2B marketing automation product, used for lead nurture, scoring and marketing-sourced pipeline. It is a separate product from Marketing Cloud Engagement, despite some Salesforce pages describing the relationship inaccurately. If you run B2B nurture today, that is most likely what you are on.
What is Agentforce Marketing?
It is the agentic layer over marketing: generating campaign briefs and content, building segments from a prompt, and assembling journeys, with a person approving rather than assembling from scratch. It depends on unified data underneath, which is why marketing programmes and Data 360 tend to arrive together.
Do we need Data 360 to do this properly?
For anything depending on a unified view of the customer, effectively yes. Segmentation, suppression, real-time personalization and consent all work from unified profiles, and Data 360 is where that unification and identity resolution happen. Simple broadcast campaigns do not need it.
What outcomes should we expect?
Campaigns built in days rather than weeks, segments that reflect the whole customer rather than one channel, and suppression and consent honoured everywhere rather than per system. We agree the measures up front and report against them.
