Experience Cloud FAQ
What can you build with Salesforce Experience Cloud?
Customer portals, partner portals, help centres, member and patient communities, and public marketing sites, all reading and writing live Salesforce data. Sites are built with LWR templates for modern, faster experiences, or Aura templates where an older build already exists.
What is the difference between LWR and Aura sites?
LWR is the current Lightning Web Runtime, and it is faster, more flexible and the default for new builds. Aura is the older runtime that many existing sites still run on. Moving between them is a rebuild rather than an upgrade, so it is worth deciding deliberately rather than by default.
Can we manage content and mobile from the same place?
Yes. Salesforce CMS manages content centrally and delivers it into Experience Cloud sites and other channels, and Mobile Publisher packages a site as a branded iOS or Android app published under your own developer account.
How do we personalize what each visitor sees?
Through audience targeting inside the site builder, and through Data 360 for anything that depends on unified customer data. Identity and login options, including social sign-on and single sign-on, determine what a visitor is allowed to see in the first place.
We want a partner portal. Is that Experience Cloud?
Partly. Experience Cloud is the build platform, and Salesforce Partner Cloud adds the channel-specific capability: deal registration, partner onboarding, lead distribution and channel analytics. See our Salesforce Partner Cloud and PRM consulting page for that side of it.
What outcomes should we expect?
Fewer inbound requests because people can serve themselves, faster partner and customer onboarding, and content that is maintained once rather than in several places. We define the measures at the start and report against them.
