Why “Evidence-Based” Lead Scoring is Just the First Step Toward Predictive AI

I recently came across an excellent piece by Jeff Ignacio over at RevEngine titled Evidence based Lead Scoring models. It’s worth a read — many of the challenges he calls out are real pain points if you’ve ever sat in a pipeline review defending a “hot” lead that sales clearly hates, or if you’re on a RevOps team trying to drive adoption for a scoring model that doesn’t quite hit the mark. 

Jeff argues that most lead scoring models are broken because they are frozen in time, built on intuition rather than data, and rarely revisited. His solution is a practical, hands-on approach: export your CRM data, calculate the actual conversion rates (“lift”) of different attributes, and rebuild your scoring weights based on that hard evidence. He even suggests using LLMs to help identify these correlations.
