Get to Know Atrium’s 2020 India Luminate Crew

We recently welcomed our 2020 U.S. Luminate group, and now we present to you another new Luminate crew — based in Jaipur, India! In case you’re unfamiliar with Luminate, it’s our program for recent college graduates that provides real-world consulting training and experience.

We interviewed our India Luminate crew to find out more about what they studied and what they hope to learn at Atrium. We also asked Sandeep Dingh, General Manager of Atrium India, to discuss the evolution of India Luminate and what makes this group unique.

Sandeep Singh, General Manager of Atrium India:

With rapid evolution in technology and industry, year by year the generation of freshmen is getting bolder and smarter. They are frequently exposed to a lot of entrepreneur success stories happening in India — or rather I would say, a lot of freshmen are thinking or are actually getting into entrepreneurship right after college.

In 2018 when we started our India operations, we were not prepared to hire freshmen. The reasons were nothing to do with the candidates but rather our concerns about safety with our project deliveries and a mindset in providing best-in-class delivery by leveraging more experienced technical people.

Last year, in 2019, we hired the first batch of freshmen (Luminate), and they surprised us to our core. The exposure they had during their education, the sharp learning curve they have and the value of culture they believed in was commendable. This completely changed our mindset and put us on a track of hiring a best-in-class Luminate group.

This year when we went into hiring for India Luminate, we were further surprised to see in just one generation of passed out (“graduated”) freshmen, how the talent and exposure has evolved. We have hired Luminate who have exposure such as playing in India’s National Team, a few presenting to India’s hon’ble PM Mr. Modi, and a few presenting on bigger platforms speaking to thousands of people. Atrium is proud to announce Jaipur Luminate 2.0.

Akshita Bhatnagar:

I have completed my B.Tech from Swami Keshvanand Institute of Technology, Management & Gramothan, Jaipur in the Computer Science stream. I have done training and internships in the machine learning field as a data science intern.

How did you first learn about Atrium and the Luminate program?

I learned about Atrium through LinkedIn and there I got to know about the Luminate program from certain posts on the Atrium page which brought my attention towards this opportunity.

What interested you about Luminate?

The thing which made me more interested in the Luminate program is the learning part and the proper training plan, which makes up the base of every employee in the company. And if the knowledge part is stronger, then everything will be easier in the whole journey of our careers in the organisation.

What do you hope to get out of the program?

I am hoping to come out of the 2020 Luminate program with lots of knowledge in the field of AI and machine learning, and also in the Salesforce field which is totally new for me and is taking much of my attention in the learning phase. So I hope that I complete my training successfully with lots of hard work.

What technology trends or capabilities are you most interested in?

The technology trend in which I am most interested is artificial Intelligence, as I have a keen interest in the data science field. This technology has proved itself in every possible area like in the medical field, banking, for security purposes, traffic management, gaming, etc. And the way all the data is handled in this technology is with full accuracy and confidentiality to fulfill every purpose and meet the client requirements. These are all the reasons which made me more interested in this technology.

Garvit Khandelwal:

I did my engineering in computer science from LNMIIT, Jaipur.

How did you first learn about Atrium and the Luminate program?

I came to know about Atrium and the Luminate program when the company came to hire new minds from our college. I researched a little about the company and the work it does and was instantly drawn towards it.

What technology trends or capabilities are you most interested in?

I am definitely fascinated by the power of data. I love how data can change an individual’s experience with a technology or platform. I would also like to see how AI can impact the world of programming. It would be interesting to see how AI can be used to help developers.

Where do you hope your career goes?

I hope to wear different hats throughout my career. I would like to learn as many different technologies as I can and implement them in projects of all sorts and from all categories of businesses. I would even like to learn how sales works and lead a team at some point in my life.

I have recently done my Bachelors of Technology in Computer Science from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University.

I was very much into public speaking. I have participated in various state- and national-level debate and speech competitions and also chaired youth parliaments. I like to write poems and in my college days I also worked as a content writer. I was also editor-in-chief of my college newsletter. I have also shouldered the responsibility of Head Boy in school and head of the student council in college. In my school days I also acted in theaters.

Apart from this I am an active volunteer in a few NGOs which are dedicated towards the education of poor children, and environment and social awareness in rural and backward areas.

And yes, I am a very fun-loving person and I can make it very difficult for people to stop their laughter if they are around me!

How did you first learn about Atrium and the Luminate program?

I learned about Atrium two years ago while I did my summer internship at Appirio. I came across the Luminate program through my college training and placement cell.

What interested you about Luminate?

The thing that interests me is that finally via this program I can work on real-life projects and develop know-how about how things work in reality. I did the practice and learned the theoretical concepts, but implementing them according to business perspective is something I’m looking for.

What do you hope to get out of the program?

I’m looking for more knowledge on Salesforce as I’ve previously worked on the same. This program can provide me the base and overall understanding of Salesforce. The most interesting part is that we will be groomed for all directions and can explore fields like data science, analytics, and development, and can then think of what we want to pursue further and where our interest and productivity lies.

What technology trends or capabilities are you most interested in?

So far I’m interested in the Salesforce development side, but I’m willing to explore the fields of data analytics and data science too.

Where do you hope your career goes?

I see my career with exponential learning growth. This is the time I’m more focused on learning.

Aseem Kumar Sharma:

I did my Bachelors in Technology in Computer and Communication Engineering from Manipal University Jaipur.

How did you first learn about Atrium and the Luminate program?

The opportunity at Atrium came out of nowhere. I had stopped applying for jobs due to the Covid pandemic and had started preparing for my higher studies. One day my college professor pinged me out of the blue asking me if I would be interested in applying at Atrium and also asked me to look into Atrium’s Luminate program. I can’t thank him enough.

What interested you about Luminate?

Being a data science enthusiast, I was really attracted to the Luminate program, as it would help me get my hands dirty on machine learning, artificial intelligence, analytics, and Salesforce real-world projects. These four technologies are driving the IT world right now, and I am always up to learn something new. Also, the team is so experienced and provides such a supportive environment that every single day of the program makes you feel that you made the right decision.

What do you hope to get out of the program?

All I seek is to learn and grow altogether. I hope at the end of the program I am well trained and prepared for the position and work on projects where I can truly unleash my potential. I also look forward to the well-rounded education that I am to receive from the Luminate program that will help me to get better insight into how the industry really works, what the different phases of a project are, and how they altogether affect each other and the overall outcome of the project.

What technology trends or capabilities are you most interested in?

I really want to explore the untapped potential of artificial intelligence. Data is the new oil and in this data-driven world there lie a lot of mysteries. I have prior experience in machine learning and neural networks and want to continue my quest in this technological field.

Where do you hope your career goes?

I really don’t have a set career path. All I seek is to learn and learn and to be a better version of myself each day. I would like to stick with Atrium for a while and hope to grow together, as at the end it is important to have a career that you enjoy and take pride in.
